Every Valentine’s Day, no matter what day it lands on, no matter how tired we are, no matter what circumstances, my husband and I go on a dinner date out to a nice restaurant even though it is hectic, overpriced and overrated! If timing works out, we try to squeeze in a movie too! We wait in line forever just to get some terribly, overpriced, rushed meal and service and then we get the worst seats at some crowded movie theater, but we still do it every year! We celebrate Valentine’s Day with gifts and cards and try to share quality time together because we have a special connection to Valentine’s Day. Our very first date was on Valentine’s Day to a dinner and a movie when I was only 16 years old! Unfortunately, the date went very horribly, partly because of a depressing movie we blindly chose, and after that date, we decided to just stay as good friends. Of course you know that’s not how the story ends because we are now happily married for over 10 years!!!
The last two years however, we both missed Valentine’s Day altogether because we spent it in a hospital or at home as I was very sick and recovering from 3 major surgeries. Those were the first times we didn’t make it out to a nice dinner and/or a movie since we have been together, but we did manage to write cards and exchange gifts and yes, the day was filled with tears of gratefulness that I made it out alive from my illness. Last two Valentine’s Day was actually the most memorable ones for us as it was a very trying but genuine time of truly being thankful for each other and sharing a new level of deeper love. It was so beautiful, but this year, we’re going back to our tradition and going out for a date night on Valentine’s Day! We are both so very excited that we are finally able to celebrate it the way we normally do! With that said, my Valentine outfit usually is dressy casual and classy but a bit sexy!
This year, I will wear a black lace button down shirt that is a little sheer, tucked in my sleek dark jegging and worn with my favorite black crystal leather choker (please read my previous post), and with a shiny sequin pair of pumps. I will carry a shiny leopard clutch and wear black peacoat since it will be freezing! You can re-create this look simply by wearing any, preferably, a fitted lace top and dark jeans with any shiny pumps and shiny clutch for added drama! Don’t forget to add the choker which you can buy the exact same ones here (Use code LENAXSTYLE to get 20% off): http://boho-betty-2.myshopify.com/?rfsn=480844.fa27b Happy Valentine’s Day everyone and remember to show love on this day to those you truly care about!!!
Lena’s X Factor: Choker
This outfit has a lot of deliberate sparkly accents that you might think it can compete, but the crystal choker really takes the X in the outfit because it really gives it that playful edge to this whole look. This look is demure and sophisticated for the occasion but I like to add in that extra edge to give it that special factor and in this case, the choker does the job!
